SPANGDAHLEM COMPLETE ✔️ A mini fini to bookend ou SPANGDAHLEM COMPLETE ✔️ A mini fini to bookend our time here in Germany. We begged the Air Force to send us to Europe for 14 years and in the blink of an eye our dream assignment has come to an end. Dustin was physically gone 307 days out of our 24 months here (which was precisely 48.0% MAGNUM) but I can confidently leave here saying we didn’t leave a dang thing on the table. I traveled to 21 countries (some for work, some for family, and some for play), Dustin deployed 3 times and participated in some of the most historic AF missions in recent decades, the kids thrived at school/German daycare, and we made lifelong friends and now hold the most cherished memories. I am in awe of myself for staying resilient (with the help of a bottle of Riesling or two), I am in awe of Dustin for leading and serving and sacrificing each and every day, and I am in awe of my kids who have endured far more and experienced so much more in their short lives than many will see in a lifetime. I am so sad to see this chapter end, but cannot wait for what lies ahead. To the Warhawks, MAGNUM! On to the next…

Some trips ask more of you than others. This one Some trips ask more of you than others. This one asked me to be brave. When our travel plans changed last minute and my husband could no longer join us (a common theme around here these days), I almost talked myself out of taking the kids to Portugal alone. It felt overwhelming amongst the chaos of the last few weeks. The flights, the logistics, the emotions, and carrying all the magic by myself. But past Hannah told present Hannah, “you can do this, you’ve done it before and you’ll be better off doing it again for yourself and for the kids!” Even in the hard seasons, even when life doesn’t go to plan, we are still capable of showing them how to be resilient and how to carry on. We are still capable of giving them wonder, adventure, and memories they’ll carry forever. And honestly, staying at @pinecliffs made that so much easier. Between the incredible kids club and Porto Pirata adventure village, multiple pools, direct beach access down to the Algarve coastline, so many family-friendly restaurants, and even convenient little shops and a minimarket on property, it felt like the kind of place that lets moms breathe while the kids fully soak in the magic. So if you’re waiting for the “perfect” circumstances, this is your reminder… Go anyway. Take the trip. Show them the world. Prove to yourself just how strong you really are. The hard parts come with you, yes.
